‘Moon Knight’ brought another reference to ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’

When producer Grant Curtis said that moon knight would not have no connection to current MCU, fans believed that it would be useless to look for easter eggs from other Marvel productions. However, soon after, a trailer for the new series showed a bus with an advertisement for the GRC – Global Council on Repatriation, a group that first appeared in Falcon and the Winter Soldier with the aim of helping the people who disappeared in Thanos’ Snap and returned 5 years later in the Blip.

[Spoilers do 3º episódio a partir daqui]

In the third episode of moon knight, Steven Grant takes on a supporting role and assists Marc Spector and Layla in search of clues that could lead them to Ammit’s tomb. Just before the scene where Anton Mogart (Gaspard Ulliel) appears, Marc and Layla are greeted by Bek (Loic Mabanza), who clearly knows Layla’s past.

He leads them towards Anton and makes the following comment: “After Madripoor I’m sure there’s a lot to talk about“. The Southeast Asian island debuted in the MCU in Falcon and the Winter Soldier and it’s a haven for crime, as its lower part is a hideout for some of the world’s worst criminals.

Madripoor-Knight-of-the-Moon 'Knight of the Moon' brought another reference to 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier'

Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) traveled there with Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) to find the source of the Super Soldier serum and met all sorts of characters along the way, including the scientist. Wilfred Nagel.

The fact that Layla and Anton spent time together in Madripoor suggests that both are or have been involved in some case of criminal activity. As far as the public knows, Layla is on the side of good, so her trip to Madripoor may have been motivated by the pursuit of some evildoer.

With this further reference to the series Falcon and the Winter Soldierperhaps Oscar Isaac’s hero and his allies aren’t as disconnected from the MCU as we thought.
