Thor: Love and Thunder | Trailer reaches 3rd place among Marvel’s most watched in 24 hours

The latest figures released by Marvel show that the studio has yet another big hit on its hands, as the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder reached 209 million views in just 24 hours. It’s arguably an impressive achievement, considering that the fourth film in the franchise Thor was just behind Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: No Return Home. While the trailer for the Tom Holland movie drew 355.5 million viewers, the trailer for the ending of the Infinity Saga was seen by 289 million people.

Before the pandemic, Spider-Man: Far From Home managed to gross $1.13 billion at the box office, with around 135 million views in the first 24 hours. Then, Thor 4 comes really strong, especially with the trailer release delay when compared to other titles. The film holds the record for shortest time between initial trailer release and theatrical releasewhich will be on July 7.

The fact that the trailer took so long to release may have been a key factor in its success, as many were questioning whether it would arrive before the premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Furthermore, the arrival of Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor was also something that caught people’s attention, as many were excited to see Jane Foster wielding Mjölnir.

We haven’t had a chance to see Christian Bale’s villain yet, but if the next promo video features Gorr the Butcher of the Gods, it’s sure to garner millions of views.

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he has ever faced – a quest for inner peace, but his retirement is interrupted by a galactic assassin known as Gorr the Butcher of the Gods (Christian Bale), who seeks extinction of the gods.

To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who, to Thor’s surprise, inexplicably wields her magic hammer, Mjölnir, revealing herself the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the Butcher of the Gods’ revenge and stop him before it’s too late.

Thor: Love and Thunder opens in Brazilian cinemas on July 7.
