Celebrating the big news, the writer paid tribute to Scobell, who has everything to become a huge success for years to come as the demigod.
“Walker Scobell is an incredibly talented young man who surprised us with his audition tapes for the role of Percy. Many of you have recently discovered just how great Walker is when you watched his movie The Adam Project, in which Walker lit up the screen as a younger version of Ryan Reynolds’ character.
We were lucky enough to audition for Walker months before the film’s release, but the film only confirmed what we already knew about his talent. It was obvious to me and the rest of the team that Walker had the perfect blend of comedic timing, sweetness, rebelliousness, sarcasm and heroism to embody our hero Percy Jackson.”
Walker Scobell will also appear in Paramount’s upcoming superhero movie, Secret Headquarterswhere he will star with Owen Wilson.
Percy Jackson will follow the plot of the original five-book series, starting with the first, titled The Lightning Thief. In it, 12-year-old Percy Jackson discovers he is a demigod and just as he begins to accept his newfound supernatural powers, Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning. Soon after, the hero must travel across America to find him and restore order to Olympus.
